So you thought that drinking that beautiful little diet soda was a healthier choice than that old big-belly, non-diet soda?

Well, guess what, that beauty is breaking your heart. According to research presented at the American Stroke Association’s International Stroke Conference, (sounds like a hoot, doesn’t it?) those of us who drink one diet soda a day are 61% more likely to have what they call a “vascular event”: in other words, a stroke or a heart attack.

Why not try some fresh-squeezed juice that you made yourself using a fruit and vegetable juicer? Beets, apples, carrots, cucumbers, and a whole slew of fresh produce can make your day, maybe even be the “apples of your eye,” to continue the analogy.

So, to paraphrase the coolest man in the world: I don’t always drink juice, but when I do, I drink freshly squeezed. Stay healthy.

Green Juice

Are you interested in going green with your juicer machine?

You may be more interested when you learn about something called “green juice.” This term refers to any fresh juice that happens to be the color green, but what makes it interesting is what gives it that color.

The green comes from healthful, nutrient dense vegetables that are much more appetizing in a glass than on a plate for many people. And sometimes down right delicious.

If you really want to sweeten things up you can add fruits into your green juice. This will off set some of the bitterness that some vegetables give, and can create some interesting color results in your glass. Even young children will often love green juice…but you might not want to tell them what makes those pretty colors!

Here is one tip that should get you started exploring green juice: mix up the flavors. Go for salty and sweet in the same glass or experiment with something sweet and a hint of sour. When you buy green juice at a juice bar, the unusual flavor combination’s is what makes you want to go back for more.

If you know that you need to eat those green veggies but aren’t sure how you will get them into your stomach…green juice is a great option! This isn’t something readily available at your local supermarket, but if you have your own  juice machine you can create your own green juice blends that are very affordable.

Try these juice recipes in your juicer machine, and I am sure you will be going green as well!
